LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – A Lily man is facing multiple charges after an incident on August 30 involving assault and vehicle theft.
According to deputies, 32-year-old Joshua Harris struck a man in the face at a local store and then stole the victim’s vehicle. A woman who was partially hanging out of the car fell out as Harris drove away.
Authorities tracked Harris and the stolen vehicle to a nearby motel, where he was taken into custody. The car was safely returned to its owner.
Harris is charged with theft by unlawful taking (auto, valued over $10,000 but less than $1 million) and two counts of wanton endangerment.
In addition to the new charges, Harris was arrested on multiple outstanding Pike District Court bench warrants for failure to appear in court. The prior charges include criminal trespassing, terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and menacing.
He was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center.
