Christopher Stanley was arrested in Brevard County on multiple charges, including animal cruelty, after allegedly slamming a small dog to the ground outside a restaurant.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office took Stanley into custody on Friday following the incident that occurred over the weekend. Deputies say Stanley became angry at the restaurant, and in a fit of rage, picked up a small dog and forcefully slammed it onto the ground.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey condemned the act, stating, “If you have enough evil in your heart, drunk or not, to do that to this little baby, you deserve to sit in jail because if you can do that to an animal, you can do that to a human.”
During the arrest, Stanley reportedly resisted officers and injured himself by slamming his head into a police vehicle. Authorities also revealed he was on parole at the time of the incident for prior offenses.
Stanley now faces seven charges in total and has been denied bond as the investigation continues.
