BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A man has been arrested in connection with vandalism at three churches across East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes, according to local authorities.

Jimmie Mouton, 24, is charged with institutional vandalism, a charge that applies to knowingly defacing or damaging buildings used for religious worship, such as churches or synagogues.

Deputies said Mouton is linked to three separate incidents:

Lockhart Baptist Church (Livingston Parish): Deputies responded on the morning of Monday, September 1, to find the words “The son of God is back losers” spray-painted on the church building.

Greenwell Springs Baptist Church (East Baton Rouge Parish): Authorities said graffiti reading “Son of God” and “Greedy pedos” was found on the building around the same time.

Indian Mound Baptist Church (East Baton Rouge Parish): Surveillance footage reportedly showed a man shaking a spray paint can before tagging the building.

Security video from both East Baton Rouge locations helped deputies identify a vehicle connected to the scenes. The car, registered to Mouton, was seen at all three sites. Investigators say Mouton later admitted to vandalizing “three to four” religious buildings.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges related to the incidents.
