BURLINGTON, Vt. — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the August assault that led to the death of 42-year-old Scott Kastner, Burlington police confirmed.
Kastner was attacked by a group on Church Street near City Hall on August 11, according to acting Police Chief Shawn Burke. He succumbed to his injuries a few days later. The state’s chief medical examiner ruled the cause of death as complications from blunt force trauma to the head resulting from the assault.
Following an investigation, Burlington detectives arrested Isaiah Argro, 26, at a Shelburne residence on Friday. Hours later, a second suspect—a 16-year-old—was arrested at a nightclub in South Burlington during the early morning hours on Saturday.
Both suspects have been charged with second-degree murder and are currently being held without bail. Their arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday in Burlington.
Police have not released further information about the motive or the involvement of other individuals at this time.
