The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Ahmedabad City Police arrested a 29-year-old man with 18.905 kilograms of charas worth Rs 28.35 lakh near Vastral Ring Road crossroads on Thursday. The accused, identified as Vivek Kumar, hails from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
According to DCB officials, the charas consignment was sourced from Kanpur and intended for delivery in Gujarat. During the operation, Vivek Kumar was apprehended, but his accomplice managed to escape from the scene.
Police suspect the accused is part of a larger drug trafficking network operating between Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. The consignment has been seized, and a search is ongoing for the accomplice and others involved in the syndicate.
Further investigation is underway under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
