The city crime branch on Tuesday seized over 421 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs 42 lakh from a truck near Chamunda Bridge in Girdharnagar and arrested two individuals, Ravi Jadav (39) from Maharashtra and Neeta Yadav (23) from Meghaninagar.

According to sources, the ganja was hidden inside tin containers concealed beneath paper rolls in a closed-body truck. The consignment was reportedly dispatched by a supplier from Odisha and was intended for distribution in the Sabarmati and Danilimda areas of the city.

Following a tip-off, police conducted the seizure and are now working to identify and apprehend the local receivers of the drugs. A special investigation team has been sent to Odisha to trace the key supplier.

“During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed the names of local recipients. Based on this, search operations are ongoing,” confirmed a senior crime branch official.
