Denver, CO – Contractor Kyle Arienta, 40, was sentenced to 23 years in prison after pleading guilty on Thursday to multiple charges involving fraud, theft, and burglary. The Denver District Attorney’s Office reported that Arienta admitted to five charges, including one under the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, securities fraud, theft, and two counts of burglary.
According to the DA’s release, Arienta exploited his role as a contractor to defraud three Denver-area families of about $1.1 million, abandoning each project after minimal work. He then deceived numerous former clients and acquaintances, convincing them to “invest” in a nonexistent construction project, stealing an additional $1.7 million in the process.
In addition to the fraud, Arienta reportedly committed multiple burglaries across Denver’s Crestmoor, Hilltop, Washington Park, and Belcaro neighborhoods in November 2023.
The court has ordered Arienta to pay $3.3 million in restitution to his victims. “Kyle Arienta was a prolific thief in our community, often preying on friends and acquaintances,” stated Denver District Attorney Beth McCann. She expressed satisfaction with the plea agreement, commending the investigators and detectives for securing justice for the victims.
