Jadrion Griffin, Michael Kelly Charged in Drug Ring Bust

Evansville trafficking case leads to 11 federal indictments

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Federal authorities have charged 11 individuals in connection with a large-scale drug trafficking operation that distributed methamphetamine and cocaine throughout the Evansville area.

The investigation began in January and was led by the DEA Evansville Resident Office and the Evansville Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force (EVCDTF). Authorities uncovered two interconnected drug organizations, allegedly headed by Jadrion Griffin, 46, and Michael Kelly, 47, who are accused of sourcing drugs from St. Louis and distributing them in Evansville through a network of dealers.

According to court documents, nine other individuals worked under Griffin and Kelly to sell the drugs locally. Investigators believe multiple properties in the area were used as storage, packaging, and distribution hubs.

Law enforcement executed federal search warrants on July 28 and 29 in Evansville and Louisville. Agencies involved included the DEA, U.S. Marshals, Indiana State Police, Evansville Police Department, and partner organizations.

During the operation, police seized:

10 pounds of crystal meth

2.5 kilograms of cocaine

8 firearms

Over $10,000 in cash

Charges include distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine, and firearms-related offenses.

Evansville Police Assistant Chief Nathan Hassler praised the collaborative effort:

“This operation exemplifies the strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to keeping Evansville and Vanderburgh County safe. Together, we have made significant strides in protecting our community.”
