CHEROKEE COUNTY, N.C. — Three Cherokee County residents have been arrested in connection with a methamphetamine trafficking operation that stretched from Georgia to North Carolina, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
On August 17, investigators arrested Robert Gerald Stiles and Shandar Michelle Kauffman following a joint operation targeting drug movement into the region. Authorities say the pair had traveled to Georgia to obtain meth for distribution in Cherokee County. A traffic stop led to the discovery of approximately 9 ounces of methamphetamine and 12 ounces of gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), often referred to as the “date rape” drug.
Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and face multiple drug trafficking charges.
Two days later, on August 19, CCSO Narcotics Agents executed a search warrant at the home of Brianna Renee Sherman in the Ranger community. Methamphetamine and fentanyl were found at the scene. A second warrant allowed forensic analysis of Sherman’s phone, revealing her connection to Stiles and the broader trafficking scheme.
On August 25, Sherman was arrested and charged with conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine. She remains in custody at the Cherokee County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 10.
