The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized property documents worth Rs 600 crore along with the house of Rohan Harmalkar, the alleged key mastermind behind a massive land scam in Goa. Harmalkar, who contested the 2022 assembly elections as an independent candidate, identified unattended properties, mostly with no legal heirs or owners living abroad for decades.
According to the ED, Harmalkar and his associates impersonated owners, forged documents, and manipulated revenue records to illegally transfer and sell these properties, mostly to clients from Delhi-NCR and Haryana. Many buyers were cheated in the process.
During raids on Friday at his office and residences, the ED recovered forged title deeds worth over Rs 1,000 crore for high-value lands in popular North Goa tourist hotspots such as Anjuna, Arpora, and Assagao in Bardez taluka.
The agency is continuing its investigation into this large-scale real estate fraud.
