The city crime branch arrested three men on Tuesday in connection with a triple murder that shook Ajmer, Rajasthan last month. The violent incident erupted from a dispute over chicken prices, escalating into a deadly clash between two rival community groups. The accused were apprehended in Ahmedabad’s Juhapura area, where they had been hiding for nearly two weeks after previously staying in Chhapi, Banaskantha.
According to police reports, the incident took place on July 15 at the Pakiza Meat Shop in Khanpura, under the jurisdiction of Ramganj police station. A disagreement over chicken prices shared in a WhatsApp group sparked tensions between the two factions, which quickly turned violent. At least ten people were injured during the clash. Imran, Shahnawaz, and Ghulam Qureshi succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital, while several others, including Salman, Shahrukh, and Irrfan, were seriously hurt and admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Ajmer.
The Ramganj police registered cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder, attempted murder, rioting, and unlawful assembly. Following intelligence leads, the Ahmedabad crime branch located and arrested Salman Abdul Ali Qureshi (29), Allarakha Abdul Ali Qureshi (25), and Avesh alias Oves Abdul Ali Qureshi (20), all residents of Shauryawan Mohalla in Ajmer’s Diggi Bazaar. The suspects will be handed over to Ramganj police for further investigation as the search for other absconding accused continues.
