JOHNSON COUNTY, Texas — Johnson County Sheriff Adam King has been arrested by his own deputies on serious felony charges, according to jail records released today.
King is facing two felony charges—official oppression and retaliation against a witness—as well as a misdemeanor charge for sexual harassment. His arrest follows a months-long investigation conducted by the Texas Rangers. As of now, no bond has been set.
The case has shaken the local law enforcement community, as King was taken into custody by members of his own department. Johnson County officials say the investigation began approximately six weeks ago, but the charges stem from a broader inquiry.
County Judge Christopher Boedeker issued a statement to FOX 4, saying:
“The indictments are the culmination of a months-long investigation by the Texas Rangers. County officials are not privy to the details of the investigation.”
As the legal process unfolds, King’s arrest raises major concerns over conduct within the sheriff’s office and accountability among high-ranking officials. More details are expected to emerge as the case proceeds.
