Two Downsville women were arrested last week as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On August 20, deputies executed search and arrest warrants at a residence in Downsville, resulting in the arrests of Tonya Gustafson Sanchez, 52, and Marie Annette Silva, 44. Both were taken into custody after deputies discovered various illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia at the scene.
During the search, law enforcement officials recovered approximately 169 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, multiple Schedule II narcotics (including oxycodone and amphetamine), as well as items commonly used in drug distribution. Authorities also seized more than $1,400 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Charges for Sanchez include:
Two counts of distribution of Schedule II narcotics
Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
Possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute
Possession of amphetamine with intent to distribute
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Her bail was set at $290,000.
Charges for Silva include:
Possession of marijuana
Possession of methamphetamine
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Her bail was set at $40,000.
The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing and more charges may be filed.
