Authorities arrested Luang Phor Alongkot, the former abbot of a renowned AIDS hospice temple, in the early hours of Tuesday at his temple in Lop Buri. The arrest was made at approximately 1 a.m. after police officers observed him attempting to leave the premises, raising suspicions that he might be trying to evade capture.
Pol Maj Gen Withaya Sriprasertparp, head of the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), confirmed that the arrest took place at Wat Phrabatnampu. Following his detention, Luang Phor Alongkot was transported to the CSD headquarters in Bangkok for questioning regarding charges of embezzlement and money laundering.
