A Thai national has been arrested at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow, for violating visa regulations and attempting to flee India using a forged passport, police confirmed on Friday.

The accused, Thongphun Chayapha, also known as Darin Chokthanpat, was intercepted by immigration officials while trying to board an Air India Express flight to Bangkok.

Authorities stated that Chayapha had previously been blacklisted for visa violations but successfully re-entered India in July 2025 under a false identity. Her presence in India was facilitated by local accomplices.

Police have arrested Jaswinder Singh, who allegedly helped her reside illegally. Meanwhile, two other key suspects, Navendu Mittal and Shuvendu Nigam, are currently on the run.

The case highlights serious concerns about immigration loopholes and local networks enabling the illegal stay of foreign nationals. Investigations are ongoing to trace the remaining accused and determine how the forged documents were acquired.
