In a swift operation, Shimla district police arrested three individuals with 54.42 grams of chitta (heroin) near Hulli bridge on the Shimla-Kotkhai route.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
Abhishek Mehra (19) – Resident of Chhatarpur, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand
Robin Singh (24) – Resident of Shivpuri village, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh
Shabana (23) – Wife of Robin Singh, also from Shivpuri village
Acting on a tip-off, the police stopped a suspicious car (registration number PB 01 E 9829) and discovered the heroin concealed inside. The accused were immediately taken into custody.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Theog, Siddharth Sharma, confirmed the arrests and seizure, stating that a case has been registered under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is ongoing to uncover possible connections to larger drug networks.
The police have intensified surveillance in the region amid rising concerns over narcotics trafficking through inter-state routes.
