Five Arrested in Bhubaneswar Youth Murder Near Rasulgarh Square

Two more suspects apprehended in Sahadeb Nayak’s murder case

Bhubaneswar police have arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of 36-year-old police volunteer Sahadeb Nayak near Rasulgarh Square, police officials confirmed on Thursday.

The two latest arrests were of Lucky alias Laxmi Naik and Rakesh Naik alias Anda, both residents of Kedarpalli. With these arrests, the total accused in the case have increased to five.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pinak Mishra said that in response to the gravity of the crime, three special teams were formed to expedite the investigation. The teams quickly identified the vehicles involved and tracked down the accused. Initial arrests of two suspects were followed by the capture of the remaining three near Nayagarh.

DCP Mishra added that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests may be made as more individuals’ involvement is still being examined.

Police also recovered important evidence including two motorcycles, two bloodstained swords allegedly used in the attack, four mobile phones belonging to the suspects, bloodstained clothes, and two bags. These items are vital to the ongoing investigation.

The case remains under active investigation with updates expected in the coming days.
