Washington, D.C. – A 50-year-old Indiana woman, Nathalie Rose Jones, has been arrested by federal authorities after allegedly making violent threats against former U.S. President Donald Trump via social media.
According to an August 18 press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Jones publicly posted messages calling for Trump’s arrest and assassination, including one post urging U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to organize an “arrest and removal ceremony” for Trump at the White House on August 16, 2025.
In a chilling August 6 message, Jones allegedly wrote that she was “willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea,” naming former congresswoman Liz Cheney as a potential accomplice. She blamed Trump for “lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic,” citing his vaccine policies and pandemic response as her motive.
On August 15, Jones voluntarily met with the U.S. Secret Service, where she reiterated her belief that Trump was a “terrorist” and admitted to making threats. Authorities say she had a bladed object intended to be used to “carry out her mission.”
Following a protest near the White House on August 16, Jones was interviewed again. While she denied a current desire to harm Trump, she admitted to authorship of the threatening posts. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly.
Authorities traced the threats to social media accounts labeled “Nath.Jones” on Instagram and Facebook.
This incident adds to a series of threats and attacks against Donald Trump since he entered politics. Notably:
July 2024: Trump was shot at during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania by Thomas Matthew Crooks, resulting in one death and injuries to Trump and others.
Later in 2024: Another suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested near Trump International Golf Club in Florida with a rifle.
2016: Michael Steven Sandford, a British citizen, attempted to grab an officer’s gun at a Las Vegas Trump rally.
2017: Gregory Lee Leingang tried to use a stolen forklift to attack Trump’s motorcade in North Dakota.
Jones is currently awaiting legal proceedings. Federal authorities emphasize that threats against public officials are taken seriously and will be fully prosecuted.
