In a major security breach at Lucknow Airport, Subhronil Sarkar, a Bangladeshi national, was arrested for attempting to board an AirAsia flight FD 146 with a fraudulent passport. Sarkar was detained during routine checks of passenger documents. His suspicious passport, which listed an address from Ambedkar Nagar in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, was flagged by airport authorities.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Sarkar had previously entered India using a Bangladeshi passport. He had stayed at various hotels, including in Bodh Gaya, raising concerns about his illegal movements across the country. Authorities had already issued a lookout circular (LOC) for Sarkar in Mumbai, after a complaint was filed about his involvement in fraudulent passport activities.

Further inspection of Sarkar’s documents uncovered discrepancies in his identity. He had used a fake address from Madhya Pradesh to obtain his Indian passport and was also carrying an Aadhaar card listing a West Bengal address, which authorities believe was also obtained fraudulently.

During questioning, Sarkar admitted to being a Bangladeshi citizen, confirming his illegal entry into India. SHO Shailendra Giri, of Sarojininagar police station, confirmed this information, stating, “During interrogation, the suspect admitted to his Bangladeshi nationality.”
