A Del Valle man, Brett Garza, has been arrested in connection with fentanyl distribution following a six-month investigation by the Austin Police Department.
Detectives with the APD and the Narcotics Support Unit began receiving tips about Garza in February 2025. Over the next six months, surveillance and multiple controlled narcotics buys led investigators to identify several people, homes, and vehicles involved in fentanyl distribution throughout Austin.
On August 14, the Narcotics Support Unit and K9 Interdiction Unit stopped Garza as he was leaving a residence tied to the investigation. Officers found a large quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, and cash in his vehicle.
Following the stop, the APD SWAT team executed a search warrant on the residence, seizing a total of 9 pounds of fentanyl, 1.4 pounds of heroin, 115 grams of cocaine, two firearms, and $9,752 in cash.
Garza was taken into custody and booked into Travis County Jail. Charges are still pending.
