FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. — The murder of 16-year-old Trey Dean Wright has resulted in the arrest of nine teenagers, with a tenth suspect expected to surrender soon. Wright was found fatally shot on June 24 on First Neck Road, about 45 miles west of Myrtle Beach.
Devan Scott Raper, 19, of Conway, is accused of shooting Wright following an argument involving a girl. Authorities say Raper did not act alone — eight additional teens were arrested for their roles in orchestrating Wright’s murder and even recording the deadly encounter.
Among the suspects is Wright’s 17-year-old girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher, charged as an accessory before the fact. She allegedly brought Raper to meet Wright, knowing he was armed and intending to provoke a confrontation.
Other arrested suspects include 18-year-olds Corrine Belviso and Hunter Kendall, and 17-year-old Sydney Kearns. Four more suspects have yet to be publicly identified.
Florence County Sheriff’s Maj. Michael Nunn stated the decision to charge the teens was made carefully, emphasizing South Carolina’s law that “the hand of one being the hand of all,” holding each suspect accountable.
Raper faces charges including homicide and weapon possession. Investigations continue as authorities prepare for the surrender of the tenth suspect.
