OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a deadly drive-by shooting in southeast Oklahoma City that left one man dead and a woman injured.
The shooting occurred near SE 21st Street and Durland Avenue, where witnesses saw a red Toyota stop in front of a home and a passenger open fire. Officers arrived to find two people struck by gunfire.
“Sadly, one deceased,” said Msgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department.
James Blue, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman was also injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to police, dozens of shell casings and ballistic evidence were found scattered across the street, helping officers connect the scene to a weapon found later.
Witnesses led police to 20-year-old Azia Nelson-Louie and 18-year-old Robert Rains. A witness told investigators she had argued with the suspects days earlier, and Rains allegedly fired a pistol into the air at that time. She believed the drive-by shooting was retaliation for the argument.
Police tracked Nelson-Louie’s phone to Wewoka, about an hour away from the crime scene. Wewoka police located and arrested both suspects the same day. Officers also recovered the red getaway car, hidden under a tarp and trash.
At the time of his arrest, Nelson-Louie allegedly had the loaded pistol used in the shooting.
Both suspects were transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center and booked on first-degree murder complaints.
