In a significant development, Santosh Kumar Sethi, a dismissed Army jawan, has been arrested by the Shahidnagar Police for allegedly operating a fraudulent Army recruitment scam. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by Santosh Kumar Swain, a job aspirant from the Ghatikia area, who was duped by Sethi into believing he could secure a position in the Indian Army’s 120 Battalion.

According to Swain’s complaint, he was introduced to Sethi through a woman who promised to assist him in obtaining an Army job. Sethi, posing as a recruiter, provided Swain with fake documents, including an Aadhar card, PAN card, and various certificates, and demanded Rs5,000 through Swain’s brother, Sudhir Kumar Swain. He assured Swain that he would soon receive a uniform, ID card, and an official appointment letter. However, after receiving the money, Sethi ceased all communication, prompting Swain to report the incident to the police.

Upon investigation, police discovered that Sethi had been running a similar scam, duping multiple individuals by posing as a military recruiter and extorting money from them. He is also suspected of using fake documents to create a fraudulent image of legitimacy. The police are continuing their investigation into the case and have urged others who may have been affected to come forward.

This incident highlights the growing concern of job frauds, particularly in sectors like the military, where aspirants are vulnerable to exploitation. Authorities are advising the public to be cautious and verify the authenticity of recruitment offers before making any financial commitments.
