A Crystal Springs man has received his sentence for a 2021 carjacking incident that took place in Jackson. Christopher Lawrence Murray, 31, will serve 110 months in federal prison for brandishing a firearm during the crime.
According to reports from Darkhorse Press, the incident occurred in May 2021. Murray, along with another man, approached a woman sitting in her parked car outside her home in Jackson. The men, both armed, demanded the woman exit the vehicle and hand over her keys and cell phone. The woman complied, and the suspects fled the scene in her car.
In September 2023, a federal grand jury indicted Murray for his role in the carjacking. He pled guilty in July 2024 to brandishing a firearm in connection with a crime of violence. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi and Special Agent in Charge Joshua Jackson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
