As part of its intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, Handwara Police arrested two drug peddlers during a routine naka checking operation at Zand Batpora, under the jurisdiction of Police Post Langate.
Accused Details:
Showkat Ahmad Kalo, son of Farooq Ahmad Kalo, resident of Kanyari Hajin, Bandipora
Manzoor Ahmad Nadroo, son of Abdul Aziz Nadroo, resident of Sher Colony, Tarzoo Sopore
During the search, police recovered:
2.90 kg of poppy straw from Showkat Kalo
1.54 kg of poppy straw from Manzoor Nadroo
An FIR No. 179/2025 has been registered under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Handwara. Both accused have been taken into custody.
Ongoing Investigation:
Police stated that further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify others involved in the illegal drug network.
The Handwara Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward drug abuse and trafficking. Authorities also urged the public to report any suspicious drug-related activity, assuring that informants’ identities will be kept confidential.
