Six Arrested in Coimbatore for Possessing 6.1 kg of Ganja

Two separate raids lead to major drug busts

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Coimbatore police arrested six persons in connection with possession of a total of 6.1 kilograms of ganja in two separate incidents across the city.

In a surprise check at around 10 a.m., police from the Kuniyamuthur police station stopped four men in an open area near a private college at Sugunapuram East. The individuals caught with the contraband were identified as:

K. Raja (22) – Kudavasal, Thiruvarur

S. Mirutyunjayarana (27) – Kulutajore village, Baudh district, Odisha

John Peter (30) – Udayampalayam, Coimbatore

M. Muthu (26) – Kalaignar Nagar, Ganesapuram near Podanur, Coimbatore

The police recovered a significant quantity of ganja from the group during the raid.

Details of the second incident and the identities of the other two arrested individuals are yet to be disclosed. Authorities continue to investigate and clamp down on drug trafficking and possession in the region.
