Two Arrested in Medley for Mail Theft and Forged Documents
MEDLEY, FL — Police in Medley arrested two men early Tuesday morning after a suspicious vehicle stop led to the discovery of stolen mail and forged documents.
The suspects, Marcos Peraza, 23, and Alberto Davila, 40, were pulled over around 4 a.m. near Northwest 70th Street and 87th Avenue. Officers said the car was spotted idling in an empty parking lot with no open businesses nearby.
Peraza, who was driving, was found to have an expired registration, an expired license, and illegal window tinting. Both men were also unable to explain their presence in the closed lot and were charged with loitering and prowling.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers uncovered:
A counterfeit or duplicated USPS arrow key
Blank checks
Forged documents
Stolen mail
Credit cards and ID cards
Personal information belonging to multiple victims
The arrow key, commonly used by postal workers to access mailboxes, is considered a sensitive government-controlled tool and its unauthorized possession is a federal offense.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional federal charges may be pending.
