Four Arrested in Austin Retail Theft Operation Targeting Victoria’s Secret

Police Seize $57,000 Worth of Stolen Merchandise and a Handgun

Austin police have arrested four individuals involved in a retail theft operation that resulted in nearly $57,000 worth of stolen merchandise from Victoria’s Secret stores in the Austin area. The suspects have been identified as Sofia Hernandez, 20; Angelica Chavez, 24; Joe Garcia, 37; and Lisa Vasquez, 30.

The Austin Police Department’s Organized Retail Crime Investigators reported the seizure of over 2,000 stolen items from more than 40 retailers, along with a stolen handgun. The investigation began in September 2024, led by the North Metro Tactical Response Unit, which focused on the thefts plaguing local Victoria’s Secret stores.

Hernandez, Chavez, and Garcia face multiple counts of felony theft, while Garcia is also charged with robbery by threat. Vasquez has been charged with felony organized retail theft. The police continue to investigate the extent of the operation and its connections to other thefts in the area.
