Union City, GA – Marcus Overstreet, 42, of Atlanta, was arrested on July 22 in connection with the December 2024 murder of Mario Culver, whose body was discovered in a burning vehicle on Wilson Avenue in Atlanta.

Authorities say Culver, 36, of Lithonia, was killed in Ellenwood before his body was placed in a car that was later set ablaze. Overstreet is charged with malice murder in the fatal shooting, along with several other serious offenses.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Fugitive Unit, with support from the U.S. Marshals and South Fulton Police SWAT, located Overstreet at an apartment complex on Flat Shoals Road in Union City. During the arrest, he reportedly tried to escape through a broken window and sustained injuries. He was treated at the scene before being taken to the DeKalb County Jail, where he remains held without bond.

Overstreet is also facing multiple charges in Fulton County, including murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons violations. Additionally, he has prior misdemeanor charges for simple assault and battery tied to family violence incidents in Ellenwood in late 2024.

The investigation into Culver’s death is ongoing.
