Behbahan, Iran – Forough Khosravi, an elementary school teacher and education Ph.D. holder, was arrested on July 29, 2025, by agents from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence unit.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Khosravi received a call from an unknown number Tuesday morning instructing her to appear at the courthouse by noon. She declined, citing the lack of an official summons. Later that afternoon, around 2:30 PM, IRGC Intelligence agents arrived at her home with an arrest warrant, detained her, and took her to an undisclosed location.
At the time of reporting, the reasons for her arrest and the specific charges remain unknown.
This incident follows a June 19 raid when six IRGC agents—two of them women—entered her home without a judicial warrant. They searched the premises, confiscated personal belongings including her cellphone, and reportedly intimidated her and her daughter. The experience left Khosravi’s daughter deeply distressed.
In response, Khosravi filed a formal complaint against the IRGC agents. However, Judge Ruhollah Farzadnasab of Branch 2 in Behbahan dismissed the case, siding with the security forces and ordering no further investigation.
Khosravi was previously expelled from Payam Noor University in Bandar Imam following her alleged involvement in the 2009 post-election protests. Despite holding a doctorate in education, she has faced ongoing pressure for her activism and background.
