IRVING, Texas – A 62-year-old day care teacher at a private Christian school in Irving has been charged with a felony for allegedly injuring a 4-year-old boy in her care.
Sandra Johnson Randall, an educator at Sloan School, is facing a third-degree felony charge of injury to a child following reports of physical and mental abuse.
The child’s mother reported the incident to police on July 11, telling officers her son was being harmed by a teacher. She took him to the Irving Family Advocacy Center, where the boy described being “tucked in tightly,” having his face grabbed, and being scratched by Randall.
Surveillance footage obtained from the school on July 23 confirmed the mother’s concerns. The video reportedly showed Randall aggressively grabbing the child’s face on July 20. The following day, the boy’s mother also shared a photo of a scratch on his face with investigators.
Authorities said Randall’s actions were unprovoked and resulted in a visible injury to the child.
Sloan School, which serves preschool through fifth-grade students, has not yet issued a public response regarding the allegations.
Randall has been officially charged, and the case remains under investigation.
