SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man was arrested Tuesday after authorities discovered $500,000 worth of drugs in his home during a narcotics investigation.
Juan Vasquez, 40, was the subject of a two-month surveillance operation by San Antonio police, who identified him as someone suspected of transporting narcotics.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers pulled over Vasquez’s vehicle near the intersection of Basse Road and McCullough Avenue. During the traffic stop, police discovered multiple narcotics in the car. Another occupant in the vehicle, who was wanted by authorities, was also arrested. Police did not release that person’s identity or charges.
Following the stop, detectives obtained a search warrant for Vasquez’s residence on the 100 block of Dean Street, where they discovered:
40 to 50 kilograms of methamphetamine
Over 1 kilogram of heroin
Multiple firearms
Police said the estimated street value of the drugs found was $500,000.
Vasquez was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance PG1 over 400 grams with intent to manufacture or distribute. Authorities noted that federal charges are pending.
