In a major crackdown on food adulteration, city police on Monday seized 1,000 kilograms of counterfeit paneer during a high-alert raid near Sirsi Road. The operation also led to the detention of five suspects and the exposure of an illegal manufacturing setup.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Hanuman Prasad said that law enforcement acted swiftly after receiving intelligence on suspicious paneer trading in the area. A police team intercepted a pickup truck carrying multiple crates labeled as paneer, but a foul odour raised immediate suspicion.
Upon inspection, authorities confirmed the dairy product was fake and unfit for consumption. The Bindayaka police have seized the vehicle and the adulterated goods.
The individuals detained in connection with the case have been identified as:
Saharun (19), Sahil (22), and Usama (19) — all from Ramgarh, Alwar
Rajendra (51) from Mundola, Kalwar
Naresh Kumar (47) from Pindolai, Bindayaka
Police believe the counterfeit paneer was being circulated for commercial sale in local markets, posing a serious threat to public health. Further investigation is underway to uncover the source and distribution network.
Officials have reiterated their commitment to food safety and warned vendors against engaging in such practices.
