Timothy Fairley Jr. and Josef Barnes Arrested on Drug Charges

Two Southern Pines men face multiple charges after traffic stop

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields has announced the arrest of two individuals on drug charges following a traffic stop in the Vass area on October 29.

Detectives from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office conducted a vehicle search during the stop, uncovering suspected fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and various drug paraphernalia.

Timothy Fairley Jr., 23, of Southern Pines, faces a range of charges, including trafficking in opium or heroin by possession and transport, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked license, and failure to maintain lane control.

Fairley is currently held under a 48-hour hold in accordance with HB813, enacted in 2023, and is scheduled to appear in Moore County district court on November 27.

Josef Barnes, 40, also from Southern Pines, has been charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held under a $7,500 secured bond and is set to appear in Moore County district court on November 21.
