In a continuing crackdown on narcotics, the Indore Crime Branch arrested Abhimanyu Rajput, a 31-year-old resident of Sonkatch (Dewas district), for allegedly smuggling MD (mephedrone) drugs into the city.

According to Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya, the arrest came during intensified surveillance based on confidential inputs regarding drug trafficking operations in Indore. During a routine patrol under the Bhandari Bridge, officers noticed a man acting suspiciously and intercepted him.

Upon questioning, Rajput appeared nervous and later confessed to possessing synthetic drugs and selling them to city addicts for quick profit. Officers recovered 12.68 grams of MD, which has since been confiscated.

Rajput, who works in the transport segment of the event management industry and has an educational background up to Class 12, admitted to entering the narcotics trade for financial reasons. He allegedly bought drugs at low prices and sold them at a markup to addicts in Indore.

A case has been registered under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act, and the accused remains in custody. Police stated that further legal proceedings are ongoing and additional arrests may follow as the investigation continues.
