Police in Navi Mumbai have arrested a 21-year-old man, Aminur Ali Ahemadali Molla, for allegedly murdering a 35-year-old man following the rejection of his repeated marriage proposals to the victim’s wife.
According to police officials, the victim, Abubakar Suhadali Mandal, was killed during the night between July 21 and 22. The accused reportedly strangled the victim after his proposals to marry the victim’s wife were refused multiple times.
After the murder, Aminur Ali allegedly disposed of the victim’s clothes and personal items in Vashi creek and concealed the body nearby. The victim’s wife, who resides in a slum area in Vashi, filed the complaint leading to the arrest.
Authorities recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The accused has been booked under sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Officials suggest the motive was rooted in personal enmity and the accused’s unreciprocated romantic interest in the victim’s wife, which triggered the crime.
