Politician Temba Mliswa has publicly revealed that he was defrauded of $25,000 in a failed car purchase. The vehicle was sold to him by Tatenda Gwinji, the former Chairman of the Chegutu Rural District Council, who was recently released from prison on amnesty after serving a six-month sentence for another crime.

Mliswa stated that after paying the full amount for the car, Gwinji failed to deliver the vehicle. With no other options, Mliswa reported the incident to the authorities, which led to Gwinji’s arrest on fraud charges.

Expressing gratitude for the swift action taken by the police, Mliswa lamented that Gwinji had exploited his trust. He voiced his disappointment, noting their long-standing professional relationship and the confidence he had in Gwinji, who he feels has now become untrustworthy.

“I worked with him for a long time when many abandoned him and had immense faith in his abilities before he turned into this version of himself,” Mliswa stated. He reiterated his demand for the return of his money plus interest, insisting that Gwinji must face the full consequences of his actions.

Despite Gwinji’s prior promise to repay the funds through Mliswa’s legal representatives at Msindo-Hungwe & Partners, his failure to follow through ultimately compelled Mliswa to seek legal intervention.
