The North Cyber Police have successfully busted a cybercrime gang involved in a massive fake stock market investment scam, arresting five suspects from Rajasthan.
Between December 2024 and February 2025, a 50-year-old man was contacted via WhatsApp by a woman named Priya Patel, who claimed to be a SEBI-registered broker from ‘RK Group’. She promised huge returns and convinced the victim to share sensitive details such as Aadhaar, PAN, and bank information through a deceptive link.
The link led to a fake trading platform named JIO GLOBEX LTD, mimicking genuine stock trading websites with fake features like ‘Chart’, ‘Trade’, and ‘Profit’. Trusting the platform, the victim transferred funds to multiple accounts, ultimately losing Rs 22.4 lakh.
The North Cyber Police, led by DCP Purshottam Karad and ACP Rajendra Shirtode, traced the scam to Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Following raids, five accused — Munawar Hussain Yusufbhai Sindhi (30), Vipul Kumar Kantibhai Ode (20), Rashid Mithubhai Sindhi (28), Naveen Rameshbhai Ode (20), and Mukeshbhai Gautambhai Ode (28) — were apprehended.
Seized items include 24 mobile phones, a list of scam phone numbers, a share market handbook, and a notebook containing scripted chat messages used to trap victims. Investigations suggest the gang targeted victims across India.
All accused have been remanded to police custody for further inquiry. Authorities urge the public to exercise caution and report suspicious online investment offers immediately.
