Mail Carrier Shawn Fuller Sentenced for Package Theft

West Haven postal worker faces prison for mail theft and drug charge

by Sophia Bennett

Shawn R. Fuller, a 37-year-old mail carrier from West Haven, Conn., has been sentenced to one year in prison for stealing packages while working at the U.S. Postal Service in Meriden. Following his jail term, he will be under supervised release for three years, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The thefts came to light in April 2023 when Fuller was observed at the Meriden Post Office opening two packages, taking items out, and then putting them in his car. Shortly after, he left work unexpectedly and was intercepted by Hamden police, who discovered cocaine in his vehicle’s trunk.

In February, Fuller pleaded guilty to theft of mail by a postal employee. Released on a $100,000 bond, he is scheduled to report to prison on August 20.
