The Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday arrested 22-year-old Suraj Jaiswal, who allegedly stabbed a motorist to death during a road rage incident on Sunday.

Jaiswal, who fled the scene after the attack, was traced to his godown in Bhandup and handed over to the Pant Nagar police station where an FIR was registered.

Police investigations revealed that Zeeshan Shaikh, 34, a second-hand car dealer from Vikhroli, was driving to Kurla with a friend in his Wagon R when Jaiswal, riding an Activa scooter with his wife as pillion, overtook them near the Eastern Express Highway in Vikhroli. A verbal altercation escalated near the Traffic Chowki under the flyover.

During the confrontation, Jaiswal reportedly took out a knife from his scooter’s boot and stabbed Shaikh in the chest before fleeing with his wife. Shaikh was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Shaikh is survived by his wife, two children, and parents. The Pant Nagar police registered a murder case and are continuing their investigation.
