LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Patrick Thompson, 32, a man currently on parole, was arrested Monday following a narcotics investigation that led to the discovery of various drugs, a handgun, and a smoke grenade at his Lincoln home.

Investigators with the Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force served search warrants at Thompson’s residence near 28th and L streets, as well as his vehicle, as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to court documents, officers found multiple marijuana and THC products, baggies containing suspected cocaine, a wallet with $1,627, psilocybin mushrooms, and a digital scale. A Palmetto Arms 5.7 handgun, a magazine with one round of 5.7×28 ammunition, and an M83 smoke grenade were also recovered, with the grenade safely handled by LFR Bomb Technicians.

Thompson was located and detained around 12:30 p.m. at BMS Logistics.

He is charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm while violating a felony drug offense, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of money intended for drug transactions.

Court records reveal Thompson is on parole for previous convictions including possession with intent to deliver Schedule 1, 2, and 3 drugs and operating a vehicle to avoid arrest. Those charges date back to May 2020 in Buffalo County Court.

Thompson’s bond was set at 10% of $500,000 during his arraignment Tuesday. His next court date is scheduled for August 19.
