CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a stabbing that injured multiple people during a party Sunday night.
According to court documents, Malique Johnson faces multiple charges including two counts of willful injury, two counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, and going armed with intent.
Police said the incident occurred during a “large physical disturbance” at a residence in the 1200 block of Ellis Boulevard NW. Witnesses and victims reported that Johnson emerged from the home and began swinging his arm with an object, allegedly stabbing individuals in the process.
Two victims confirmed to police that Johnson stabbed them, and both were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Initial police reports indicated that three people had been stabbed, but the official criminal complaint references only two.
On Thursday, Cedar Rapids police executed a search warrant at Johnson’s residence but were unable to locate the weapon involved in the attack.
Police also arrested a second individual, Allante Johnson, 30, in connection to the incident. He is charged with interference with official acts and public intoxication.
The investigation remains active.
