COLUMBIA, Mo. — A Columbia man has been charged with drug trafficking after deputies found fentanyl in his possession during an arrest late Tuesday night.
According to court documents, Joseph B. Christmas, 31, was taken into custody by a Boone County deputy at 11:12 p.m. in the 500 block of North College. The arrest was made due to an active warrant.
During a search, the deputy located two small baggies in Christmas’s pocket. The powdery substance inside tested positive for fentanyl, weighing a total of 0.5 grams.
Prosecutors have charged Christmas with Second Degree Drug Trafficking, a felony offense under Missouri law.
He is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $20,000 bond. No court date has been set at this time.
