GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man accused of killing his mother was arrested Monday after police found her dead in their Greensboro home during a welfare check.
Officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Sunrise Valley Drive just before 3 p.m. after 52-year-old Nhoan Kopa failed to report to work. Upon arrival, police discovered her unresponsive in an upstairs bathroom, suffering from a traumatic injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives quickly identified her son, Jut Kopa, 27, as the primary suspect. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder.
Later that day, Kopa was located and arrested without incident in Raleigh. He was transported back to Greensboro and booked into the Guilford County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released a possible motive.
