by Amelia Crawford

Chicago, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Lontray Clark, 23, has been arrested in Springfield after being accused of setting a deadly apartment fire in Chicago that claimed four lives, including a pregnant woman and a local newspaper editor.

The fire occurred on June 26th at a three-story apartment building in the Austin neighborhood. Authorities believe Clark started the blaze after discovering his ex-girlfriend was dating a friend. While the intended targets of the fire reportedly survived, the flames killed victims ranging in age from 5 to 76.

Clark was arrested with the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). He has since been transferred to Cook County Jail, where he is being held without bond until trial.

He faces multiple counts of murder and arson-related charges and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
