LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police arrested 51-year-old Tommy Hardin, a convicted serial robber, on Tuesday following two armed robberies in the Louisville area. Hardin, who previously served 20 years for multiple robberies, was apprehended with assistance from the Mt. Sterling Police Department in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, nearly two hours from Louisville.
According to police reports, Hardin targeted two businesses in Louisville on June 10. At Bearno’s Pizza on Taylorsville Road, Hardin allegedly approached a female employee at gunpoint, forcing her inside and demanding cash. Witnesses say he then threatened other employees, counting down from ten while pressuring one woman to open the safe and hand over the money.
Earlier that day, Hardin reportedly entered the House of Gelish Nails on Bardstown Road and, again, demanded money at gunpoint before fleeing the scene. Surveillance footage helped authorities identify Hardin as the suspect in both robberies, leading to a series of search warrants in Montgomery and Bath counties, where further evidence linked him to the crimes.
Charged with first-degree robbery, Hardin is currently held in Montgomery County Jail. Having previously served two decades of a 40-year sentence, Hardin’s extensive criminal history dates back to 2003, with multiple robbery convictions in Louisville and several other Kentucky counties.
