BATH, N.Y. — Zachariah E. Cole, 33, was arrested on July 3 following an investigation linking him to a burglary at a condemned building in Bath during June.

Police charged Cole with third-degree criminal trespass, a Class B misdemeanor, and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony.

Bath Police Department officers spotted Cole walking on State Route 415 and recognized him due to outstanding charges. The incident in question occurred on June 27 when Cole unlawfully entered a condemned apartment building where he was not permitted.

Upon arrest, officers found Buprenorphine Hydrochloride pills and sublingual films on Cole, which he did not have a prescription for. Authorities allege he intended to sell the drugs.

Cole was processed at the Bath Police Department before being transferred to the Steuben County Jail. He was released without bail as the charges did not qualify for it. He is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
