Two Athens Men Arrested After Shooting Leaves One Injured in Limestone County
LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — Two men are facing serious charges after a late-night shooting on Monday that followed an earlier domestic violence report.
According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Poplar Point Road around 6 p.m. where 50-year-old Bradley Joe Hall reported his vehicle had been damaged. During the investigation, Hall threatened to find and deal with the suspect himself if authorities didn’t act swiftly.
Later that evening, Hall contacted 34-year-old Jonathan Clayton Moore, expressing his intent to kill the person he believed was responsible. Authorities say Moore agreed to drive Hall to locate the individual.
Around midnight, the two spotted the victim walking along a road. Hall exited the vehicle and allegedly shot the man in the face. Gunfire also struck a nearby occupied building. The suspects fled the scene, but eyewitnesses provided descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle.
Deputy Roland Hipolito soon located the suspect vehicle and detained Hall. Moore fled into a nearby cornfield. A search ensued, and by Tuesday morning, Moore was located at a residence on Nancy Lou Loop. After refusing to come out while armed, the Limestone County SWAT Team was deployed and safely took Moore into custody.
Hall has been charged with attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling. Moore faces an attempted murder charge. Both are being held at the Limestone County Jail with no bond set as of yet.
Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin praised his team, stating, “Their dedication, teamwork, and relentless efforts not only brought the suspects into custody but also helped prevent further violence and ensured the safety of our community.”
Authorities say the victim is expected to recover.
