Authorities in the Montreal area are on the lookout for potential victims of a man accused of defrauding homeowners out of over $40,000 through driveway paving and other home repair services.

Longueuil police announced on Tuesday that 42-year-old Patrice Lamer has been arrested in connection with a scam that targeted residents across various sectors on Montreal’s south shore.

According to police, Lamer went door to door, claiming to work for the company Gestion Multi Pro and providing quotes for paving services. He later expanded his offerings to include painting, balcony repairs, and paving stone services. Lamer allegedly demanded deposits from victims, ranging from $450 to $3,700, paid in cash.

Reports indicate that in some instances, the work was only partially completed or not done at all. Four residents from Brossard and Longueuil initially reported the fraud to the authorities, but as the investigation progressed, more victims came forward.

Lamer was arrested after police executed five warrants for his arrest. Investigators believe that over 20 cases are linked to incidents involving Lamer across five cities in 2024.
