Malvani Police arrested an interstate drug smuggler, Parvez Ahmed Amiruddin Syed (48), after recovering 6 kg 398 grams of ganja valued at approximately Rs15 lakh.
The arrest took place near Mangal Darshan Building, Jankalyan Road, Malvani, Malad (West) during a night patrol on Thursday. Parvez, a cloth merchant from Bhojpur, Bihar, was found in possession of the contraband.
The operation was led by Police Sub-Inspector Dr. Deepak Hinde and the surveillance team of Beat No. 4, under senior officers’ guidance. During questioning, Parvez admitted to holding the drugs for illegal sale.
Following his confession, legal procedures were initiated under the supervision of DCP Anand Bhoite (Zone 11) and Senior Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar. A case was registered at Malvani Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 20(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Preliminary investigations indicate the ganja was sourced from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Police are actively probing the supply chain and potential network links involved in this drug trafficking operation.
Further investigations are ongoing to identify and dismantle the remaining elements of the trafficking network.
